As someone who has always had a deep respect and appreciation for our history, this book left an immediate impression on me.
The book provides a refreshing reminder of the unselfish love humans can offer to those who are hurting. This story is about the lives of Jewish people who were sent to Italian camps by the Nazi's. There were only a few hundred of them but their experiences in the camps are completely different from those who were sent to the Nazi death camps throughout Germany.
The residents living within the small Italian villages were Jewish prisoners were housed, not only developed kinship with them but also protected and hid them when the German's moved into Italy.
The book was written by Elizabeth Bettina who discovered the history between the Italians and Jewish people quite accidentally while researching her family's history in one of the villages that housed the Jewish families. She not only wrote the book to help bring awareness to the historical events of that time but she also reached out to survivors living in the United States and brought them back to Italy in order to offer thanks to those who protected the Jewish people.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who has interest or ties to the holocaust. I was so thankful to read the countless stories of survival that occured in Italy. God Bless those who protected their fellow man from danger.

Led to Encourage
I have a strong belief in that we only become stronger as we help those around us. For as long as I can remember I have encouraged others around me. Constantly encouraging, praying and counseling others. I am thankful to have encouragement as one of my spiritual gifts. There is no greater joy than to offer encouragement, support and love to those who are hurting.
The purpose of this blog is to create a relational atmosphere in which words can reach deeply enough to encourage. Only words of love can encourage. We are to encourage others with words that bring life.
It is my hope that you will find my encouraging words seasoned with grace.
Blessings,
Wendy
